John Keegan was for many years Senior Lecturer in Military History at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and is now Defence Editor of the Daily Telegraph. He is the author of many books, including The Face of Battle, The Mask of Command, Six Armies in Normandy, The Battle for History, Battle at Sea and A History of Warfare, which was awarded the Duff Cooper Prize. The Second World War is his sixth book to be published by Pimlico. John Keegan is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and received the OBE in the Gulf War Honours List.
