Born on 20 August 1940 at Mysore City, the land of Tipu Sultan, migrated to Pakistan in June 1951. Passed Matric from Sheldon Secondary School Karachi in 1955, the last batch of 11 years of matric at Karachi Board, while a student of BSc at Sindh Muslim Science College Karachi selected for 27th PMA long course. Joined Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul on 24 November 1960, commissioned and Graduated on 21 April 1963 and was posted to 20 Baloch Regt. Commanded 19 and 24 Baloch Regts, also held staff and instructional appointments at school of infantry and tactics Quetta. He is MA English (Linguistic and Literature) from NUML, holds a degree of MA (Political Science) from Balochistan University, A law graduate (LLB) from Karachi University, did Staff Course from Command and Staff College Quetta in 1974, was awarded the symbol of Psc. The author has taken active part as a freedom fighter in Kashmir operations prior to 1965 war. Actively participated in 1965 war and took part in Battle of Alhar at Sialkot Sector, Balochistan operations during 1969 in Pat Feeder Area, In 1971 East Pakistan operations, conducted more than 20 operations including a highly successful attack on Chikan Chara hill complex on Ramgarh axis in Chitagong Sector and a sea landing near Jaffar Nagar opposite Sita Kund temple. In July 1971, returned to West Pakistan & took part in Battle of Shanke in Lahore sector, a most successful counter attack on Enemy's, 4th Assam Regiment during night of 6/7 December 1971. The author was twice recommended for Sitara-e-Jurrat and has the unique honour of actively taking part in both East Pakistan and West Pakistan during 1971 war. On 14 August 1979, he was Awarded COAS commendation card for exemplary display of high standard of devotion to duty, efficiency and leadership qualities at Rawalpindi during 1977 Post Election disturbance and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) on 23rd March 1992 for his meritorious service both during peace and war. On his retirement, was inducted in Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as Director in Press Information Department (PID). The author was associated with DHA Karachi Educational Institutions DCM, DCW, DCL and DASBE for ten years. He was also the Principal of APS&C Malir Cantt, APS&C Hyderabad Cann (recipient of Principal of the year Award for the year 2010) and APS&C SRC Hyderabad. In 2007, he was selected as Principal Cadet College Mastung and raised three Cadet Colleges namely Cadet College Pishin, Qila Saifullah & Jaffarabad as their founding Principal during 2008 / 2009, also served as Director Studies at HQ ASF Karachi for more than four years. Presently the author is a visiting Professor with reputed educational institutions. He is the author of four books "Essays on Pakistan", "Kashmir Issue, past, present and future", "Balochistan between Despair and Hope" and "Status of Karachi ? Return to the Purity of Partition". He contributes to daily Dawn in the letters to the editor section frequently since 1994 on the matters of National importance. The officer is of age but by the Grace of ALLAH super fit, has served for 62 years (32 years in Army and 30 years in Civil).
